PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 2671 p4p, 2922 weight class) and Razor Ramano (ranked 337 p4p, 368 weight class). Aoki kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Shinya Aoki. Razor Ramano has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramano moves into range and clinches up with Aoki.

Aoki ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Aoki no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ramano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aoki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Aoki has an active guard here but Ramano has managed to pass into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Aoki wants to hold on but Ramano pushes him away.
Aoki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ramano is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Ramano controlling the pace for now.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ramano scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Ramano goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ramano throws a head punch that misses.
Ramano struggles to land a body shot inside as Aoki controls his hands.
Ramano has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ramano misses with some punches.
Ramano works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Ramano misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Aoki blocks a punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ramano.
A right hook to the body lands for Ramano.

Aoki jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ramano walks away with a smile on his face. Aoki gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ramano stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Ramano digs a right hand underneath Aoki's ribcage. Aoki let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ramano cracks Aoki with a nice body shot.
Ramano lands with a light punch inside.
Aoki jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ramano walks away with a smile on his face. Aoki gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ramano rushes Aoki and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ramano lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Aoki backwards.

Razor Ramano seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Oh Aoki is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ramano scores with a shoulder strike.
Ramano lands a hook that snaps the head of Aoki backwards.
Ramano pushes Aoki against the cage. Ramano is working some dirty boxing. Ramano pushes off with a quick right hook! Aoki goes down! Aoki tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Ramano moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
