Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vern Vurris (ranked 1009 p4p, 1196 weight class) and Medzavi Nwaoge (ranked 140 p4p, 161 weight class). Nwaoge has chosen Buganda Music Ensemble - Mulirwana as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Vurris.
Nwaoge swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Vurris looks to land a left hand but Nwaoge moved out of range nicely.
Vern Vurris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nwaoge slips a jab from Vurris.
Nwaoge moves out of range as Vurris strikes.
Nwaoge lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
A big right from Nwaoge misses.
Vurris thumps Nwaoge with a low kick.
Nwaoge looks to score with a jab to the body but Vurris is just out of range.

Vurris drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vurris stands up over Nwaoge, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Vurris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nwaoge pulls Vurris in close to prevent any damage.

Nwaoge wants to control position but Vurris is using a can opener to pass guard... He's turned it into a full on guillotine from mount now! Big trouble for Nwaoge here! He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.

In his post fight interview, Vern Vurris started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
