The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heath shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Swiftwater throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Swiftwater lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Swiftwater has hold of Heath's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Heath manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Swiftwater connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Heath momentarily.

Swiftwater takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Heath drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Swiftwater manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Heath has Swiftwater in his guard.
Swiftwater is pushing down on Heath's leg trying to pass to half guard. Heath is fighting to maintain full guard but Swiftwater has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Heath drops back, looking for a kneebar! Swiftwater looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Swiftwater looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Swiftwater!
