PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benny Burns (ranked 3805 p4p, 24283 weight class) and Halt Warris (ranked 445 p4p, 646 weight class). Warris comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Alarm Clock kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Benny Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Halt Warris!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warris tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Burns manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Burns moves into the clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Burns.
Burns is pressed up against the cage. Warris has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Burns down to the mat. Burns avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Warris tries to close the distance and clinch but Burns swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Warris shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Burns manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Warris stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Warris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Burns, pushing him back against the cage.

It looks like Halt Warris has been cut.
Burns stalling.

Burns gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Warris is looking to break free of the clinch but Burns has double underhooks.

Burns tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Warris's elbow.

Warris is trying to pull guard but Burns turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Burns gets through Warris's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

That has opened up Halt Warris's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Warris takes a knee to the side of the body.
Burns scores with a shot to the side of Warris's head.

Halt Warris's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Burns lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Benny Burns dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Halt Warris's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Burns gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Warris tries to pull guard but Burns holds him up against the cage and eventually Warris drops back down to his feet.
Burns has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Burns is pressed up against the cage. Warris has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Burns down to the mat. Burns avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Warris shoots for a double leg takedown but Burns sprawls well. He's pushed Warris's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Benny Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Halt Warris.
No luck for Warris with that takedown attempt.
Burns wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Burns closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Warris is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burns is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Warris can do to turn this around?

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Halt Warris's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Benny Burns!
After the fight, Benny Burns was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
