Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bunyan (ranked 3008 p4p, 3477 weight class) and James Neer (ranked 384 p4p, 422 weight class). Paul Bunyan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to James Neer's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Bunyan !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Neer!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Steve Erwin and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bunyan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bunyan lands in his opponent's guard.
Bunyan distracts Neer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

It looks like James Neer has been cut.

Neer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bunyan defends well.
Neer can't keep his opponent in guard - Bunyan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bunyan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Neer felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bunyan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Neers head.

Bunyan wants the takedown. Neer is fighting it off but Bunyan persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Neer's guard against the cage.
Neer thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Bunyan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Neer is staying active underneath Bunyan , who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Paul Bunyan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bunyan has hold of Neer's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Neer seems comfortable defending it but Bunyan has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Neer is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Neer is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bunyan couldn't care less - he's delighted!
