Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ernest Graves (ranked 578 p4p, 1585 weight class) and Ger McDonnell (ranked 81 p4p, 215 weight class). Ger McDonnell is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernest Graves!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ger McDonnell!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonnell clinches.
McDonnell letting Graves take a breather here.
McDonnell is looking to control Graves's arms but Graves gets an underhook and turns him. Now McDonnell has his back to the cage.
Graves tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McDonnell smiles and moves away.
Graves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Graves ducks under a wild hook from McDonnell.
A telegraphed right hand from McDonnell misses the target.
Graves waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McDonnell.
McDonnell misses with a hook to the body
and Graves counters with a two punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonnell looks to throw the jab but Graves is out of range.
McDonnell throws a right and a left that Graves avoids nicely.
McDonnell takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Graves closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDonnell throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Graves to counter with a crisp jab.
McDonnell misses with an uppercut

and Graves counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Graves performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Graves is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McDonnell defends it well.

Graves looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McDonnell tries to get to full guard but Graves has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McDonnell is staying active underneath Graves, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Graves has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Graves connects with a nice short shot to McDonnell's temple.
Graves slips a nice elbow through McDonnell's hands, connecting with McDonnell's forehead.
Graves tries to pass to full mount but McDonnell defends it.
Graves is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

It looks like Ger McDonnell has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Graves lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Graves wants to free his trapped foot but McDonnell is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Graves trying to control from half guard but McDonnell is working away.
McDonnell wants to get back to full guard.
McDonnell won't allow Graves to pass to mount.
McDonnell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McDonnell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Graves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Graves tries to pass to full mount but McDonnell defends it.
Graves looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Graves wants to pass the guard but McDonnell is defending well.

Graves looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Graves wants to take a breather but McDonnell is having none of it.
Graves passes to full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Graves cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
McDonnell is wriggling around trying to escape.

McDonnell wants to hold on but Graves pushes him away.
Graves has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McDonnell's face.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Graves landing strikes from the mount and McDonnell is in trouble!
McDonnell tries to hold on but Graves pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ernest Graves dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ger McDonnell's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Graves moves out of range of the strikes.
McDonnell throws the left hand but Graves avoids the punch easily.
Graves looks to land a right hand but McDonnell moved out of range.
A slow jab from McDonnell misses its intended target.

Graves scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Graves cracks McDonnell with a big right hand but McDonnell just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
McDonnell is looking for a sweep.
Graves lands some shots froms side control.

That has opened up Ger McDonnell's cut even more.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonnell tries to bench press Graves off him but Graves keeps the position.
Graves advances to full mount.
Graves with shots to the head and body - McDonnell looks very uncomfortable down there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Graves scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Graves sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Graves with a couple of short strikes.

The cut above Ger McDonnell's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
McDonnell tries to hold on but Graves pushes him away.
Graves lands a couple of good shots and McDonnell has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Ger McDonnell's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ger McDonnell's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ernest Graves!
Ernest Graves retains his lightweight title!
A less than humble Ernest Graves misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
