PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Dolton (ranked 2786 p4p, 23912 weight class) and Chip Saunders (ranked 36 p4p, 103 weight class). Dolton comes to the cage accompanied by Paradise Warfare. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Dolton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chip Saunders!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dolton shoots in looking for a takedown. Saunders tries to sprawl out of it but Dolton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saunders manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Dolton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Saunders was covering up waiting for the punch and Dolton finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Saunders wants to stand but Dolton is controlling the position.
Dolton working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saunders trying to control the position.
Dolton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Saunders looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dolton is one step ahead there.
Our spies down at at Tran MMA Gym inform us that Saunders has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Saunders has momentary wrist control but Dolton slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Saunders is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Saunders managing to control the position.
Dolton has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Dolton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Saunders looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Saunders looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Saunders!

Dolton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Saunders tries to stand but Dolton is controlling his head.
Dolton manages to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dolton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dolton striking off his back but it's not causing Saunders any problems.
Saunders is looking to work some ground and pound but Dolton has wrist control.
Saunders postures up.
Saunders wants to control from the top but Dolton keeps moving.
Saunders has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dolton is proving hard to escape from.

Dolton pushes Saunders off and gets back to his feet.

Dolton swats away the attempt to clinch by Saunders.

Dolton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Saunders's guard.
Dolton lands a couple of elbows.
Dolton's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Dolton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saunders for as long as he can get away with.

Dolton drops back looking for a leg! Saunders is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Saunders manages to kick Dolton off! Dolton jumps back into Saunders's guard.

Dolton lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Saunders is rocked!
Dolton is working Saunders over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Saunders is still in real trouble! Can Dolton finish him?
Dolton advances to half guard.
Saunders seems to have recovered his senses.
Dolton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saunders keeps working.
Dolton is nestled in close to Saunders, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Saunders flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Dolton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dolton lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Saunders quite badly. Saunders pulls Dolton in close trying to recover. Dolton postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Saunders on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Saunders doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Dolton!
Post fight, Scott Dolton stared into the camera and said 'Don't look so surprised. It was never about the money for me - simple I am just best in this business. '.
