Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Shewmaker (ranked 2655 p4p, 3792 weight class) and Josiah Fuentez (ranked 338 p4p, 469 weight class). Josiah Fuentez acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Shewmaker!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josiah Fuentez!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuentez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shewmaker sprawls well. Shewmaker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fuentez gets slowly back to his feet.
Fuentez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shewmaker tries to avoid it but Fuentez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shewmaker to the ground. Shewmaker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shewmaker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fuentez, pushing him back against the cage.
Fuentez lands a takedown into guard.
Shewmaker controls Fuentez momentarily but Fuentez frees himself.
Shewmaker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fuentez lands a couple of elbows.
Fuentez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shewmaker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Shewmaker pulls Fuentez in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Fuentez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Frank Shewmaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josiah Fuentez.
Fuentez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shewmaker's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fuentez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Fuentez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shewmaker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fuentez throws an elbow that misses. Shewmaker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fuentez's guard. Nice move by Shewmaker!

Fuentez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Shewmaker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fuentez holds on and takes a little breather.

Let's hope that Fuentez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shewmaker lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Fuentez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shewmaker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fuentez somewhat.

Shewmaker misses with a few strikes there.
Shewmaker shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fuentez eats them both and turns towards Shewmaker to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Shewmaker bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Fuentez looks winded!
Nice body kick there by Shewmaker.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fuentez shoots in but no luck this time.
Shewmaker plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Shewmaker lands a brutal head kick. Fuentez looks out on his feet and Shewmaker throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
