Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kambei Shimada (ranked 4631 p4p, 4596 weight class) and Joe Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shimada comes into the arena with Seven Samurai blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kambei Shimada! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Davis! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis gets tackled into the cage by Shimada. Shimada maintains the clinch. Shimada lands a body punch in the clinch. A short right from Shimada. Shimada misses with a punch to the body.

Davis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Davis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shimada controls the pace. Davis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shimada can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Davis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shimada defends it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shimada seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis looking to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shimada is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shimada gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Davis takes a shot to the head. Shimada tries to work over Davis's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Davis is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. A nice left hand lands by Shimada.
Shimada scores with a shot to the side of Davis's head. Davis tries to circle away but Shimada has him pinned against the cage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Shimada. Davis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shimada walks away with a smile on his face. Davis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Some wild striking there from Davis.
Shimada lands a glancing blow to the side of Davis's head.
It looks like Joe Davis has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Donk. Shimada catches Davis right on the button with a cross. Davis shoots in for a double leg but Shimada sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Shimada has managed to clinch.
Davis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shimada smiles and moves away.
Kambei Shimada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Davis. Davis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shimada sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Davis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Davis looks winded! Shimada has Davis up against the cage in a clinch.
Shimada presses Davis against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Shimada lands a nice uppercut. Shimada lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Shimada lands a right hand.
Davis is rocked! Davis blocks an uppercut.
Davis is still on wobbly legs! Can Shimada finish him? Shimada unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Davis! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Shimada is unloading with more strikes now! Davis drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kambei Shimada! Kambei Shimada got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
