PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Romano (ranked 4591 p4p, 4635 weight class) and Danny Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romano comes to the cage accompanied by Panic Zone. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Francisco Romano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romano gets a double leg takedown into Jackson's guard.
Jackson looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Romano escapes and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Jackson is trying to control Romano's posture but Romano avoids it.
Jackson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Romano takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Romano moves nicely into side control.

Jackson is trying to get back to his feet.
Romano passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Jackson!
Jackson is working to get back to half guard.
Romano controlling the pace for now.
The referee warns Jackson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Romano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Romano lands a big shot there that rocks Jackson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee warns Jackson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Romano seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jackson for as long as he can get away with.
Romano breaks from Jackson's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Jackson tries to hold on but Romano pushes him away.

Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Romano cracks Jackson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Romano lands a heavy elbow.
Romano controlling the position easily from mount.
Romano has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jackson fails to land the takedown.
Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Romano was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson.
Jackson is looking to clinch but Romano is avoiding it.

Romano gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Romano pulls guard.

Romano trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Jackson cracks Romano with a solid left hand.
Romano on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Romano tries to get out of the position.
Jackson won't allow Romano to sweep him here.
Romano wants to stand and escape but Jackson is having none of it.

Romano looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.

Jackson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Romano bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Jackson has momentary wrist control but Romano slips an elbow through the middle.
Francisco Romano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Romano engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Jackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Romano defends well.
Romano seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Romano trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jackson's guard.

Jackson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Romano is aware though and is defending well.
Jackson wants to sweep here but Romano controlling him for the moment.
Romano cracks Jackson with a solid left hand.
Romano connects with a couple of short punches.
Jackson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Romano controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Romano is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Romano stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Romano has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Romano bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Romano in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Jackson is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

In his post fight interview, Francisco Romano started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
