PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dead Pool (ranked 6728 p4p, 4701 weight class) and Dave Dalton (ranked 0 p4p, 558 weight class). Pool comes to the cage accompanied by MOOD. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dead Pool!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Dalton!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dalton clinches up with Pool and pushes him back against the cage.

Dalton breaks from the clinch.
Pool wants to clinch up but Dalton keeps it at a distance.

Dalton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pool tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dalton is in Pool's guard.
Dalton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pool is proving hard to escape from.
Dalton postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Dalton wanted to stand there but Pool had control of the position.
Pool has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Pool is striking from the bottom but Dalton uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Dalton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pool sees it coming and defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Dalton might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Dalton wants to stand up but Pool has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Dalton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pool doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dalton.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dalton wants to stand up but Pool is controlling the position.
Pool throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Dalton manages to pass to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pool manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dalton's best efforts.

Dalton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Pool flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Dalton is controlling the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dalton moves into full mount! Pool won't be happy about that!

Dalton is landing with some decent strikes but Pool is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pool has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pool tries to bench press Dalton off him but Dalton keeps the position.

Dalton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pool knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dalton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dalton tries to stand but Pool is controlling his head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pool is trying to improve his position.

Dalton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Pool has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dalton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Pool regains half guard.

Still in half guard, Dalton seems content to control.
Pool flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Pool is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dalton trying to control the pace.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dalton connects with a nice short shot to Pool's temple.
Dalton is figuring out what he wants to do next.
More stalling from Dalton.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Dalton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dalton feints and as Pool raises his hands in defense, Dalton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dalton sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pool's guard.

Dalton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Dalton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Dalton blocks Pool's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Pool is trying to escape the mount.

Dalton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pool is in a horrible position here. Dalton smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pool bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dalton is on top in guard.

Dalton stands and throws Pool's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Dave Dalton has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dalton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pool down.

Dalton passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Pool!

Dalton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dalton lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Oh Pool is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Dalton with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Pool takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Dalton loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Pool scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Dalton land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Dalton stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Dalton!
Dead Pool spoke after the fight, saying 'I love you marry me'.
