PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Macka Briggs (ranked 5493 p4p, 3935 weight class) and Walter Mason (ranked 613 p4p, 519 weight class). Briggs kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Stepping Razor by Peter Tosh. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs swings for the body but Mason moves out of range.

Briggs gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mason to score an easy takedown into full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mason accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mason is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Briggs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mason manages to get himself to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Briggs wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.
Mason is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mason seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Briggs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mason uses his free foot to push down on Briggs's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Briggs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
