PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Cloutier (ranked 4443 p4p, 4789 weight class) and ConnII McGregII (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Al Cloutier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, ConnII McGregII!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cloutier swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

McGregII closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Cloutier taking a breather.
Cloutier avoiding damage as McGregII throws knees to the body.
McGregII working aggressively here.
Cloutier is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
McGregII effectively controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cloutier managing to block the knees to the body from McGregII.
McGregII doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

McGregII is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cloutier can't fight it off and eventually McGregII manages to take the fight to the floor. Cloutier looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McGregII passes Cloutier's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
McGregII missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
McGregII not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
McGregII looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Let's hope that McGregII has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like McGregII might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

McGregII stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
McGregII uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cloutier.
Cloutier stuffs the takedown.
Cloutier waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McGregII.
McGregII tries to counter by closing the distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McGregII takes the fight into the clinch.
Cloutier is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but McGregII is keeping busy.
McGregII tries to land knees in the clinch but Cloutier avoids the damage to the body.
McGregII fails to pull guard.
McGregII tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cloutier just stands there and leans against the cage.
Al Cloutier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ConnII McGregII.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Cloutier is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McGregII wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cloutier has him pressed against the cage.
McGregII has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McGregII looking for a takedown.
Cloutier wants to stall.
McGregII is struggling to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cloutier gets underhooks to prevent McGregII's takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

ConnII McGregII dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Cloutier feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends McGregII sprawling to the canvas! McGregII rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Cloutier finish him?!

McGregII is still looking wobbly from the end of the last round!

It looks like ConnII McGregII has been cut.
McGregII moves out of range as Cloutier strikes.
McGregII is still on wobbly legs! Can Cloutier finish him?
McGregII drops his hands momentarily. Cloutier doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. McGregII staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. McGregII doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Al Cloutier!
During a confident post fight interview, Al Cloutier thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
