Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chakree Somchai (ranked 549 p4p, 678 weight class) and Abduwali Hassan (ranked 64 p4p, 73 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Somchai gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hassan misses with a hook.
Somchai uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hassan.
Chakree Somchai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hassan lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Somchai has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Somchai and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Somchai tries to close the distance and clinch but Hassan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hassan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Hassan tries to keep at a distance but Somchai has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hassan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hassan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Somchai doesn't manage to clinch there - Hassan circles away.
Hassan throws a hook but Somchai blocks it.

Despite the aggression on Hassan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Hassan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Somchai. Somchai circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Somchai throws a wild body kick that Hassan sees coming a mile off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hassan lands with a nice body punch.

Hassan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Somchai.

Somchai clinches.
Hassan tries to stall but Somchai uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hassan stalls.
Hassan lands a left hand that snaps the head of Somchai backwards.

Somchai pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Somchai throws a series of punches but Hassan moves out of range.
Hassan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Somchai's head.
Somchai walks into a straight right hand from Hassan.
A slapping leg kick lands for Somchai.
Hassan avoids the body shot from Somchai.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Somchai gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Hassan gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Somchai is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
