Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Archie Laird (ranked 790 p4p, 1833 weight class) and Ganny Kogir (ranked 122 p4p, 252 weight class). Ganny Kogir has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Archie Laird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ganny Kogir!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laird fails with the takedown
and Laird takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Laird.
Decent striking displayed by Kogir there.
Kogir misses with a hook.
Laird fires out a quick counter leg kick but Kogir just manages to avoid it.
Kogir keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Laird scores with a takedown into Kogir's guard.

Laird is working Kogir over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kogir tries to get to full guard but Laird has control of the leg.
Laird slips a nice elbow through Kogir's hands, connecting with Kogir's forehead.
Kogir looks like he's trying to stand up.

Laird has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Laird seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Laird is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kogir defends it well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Laird in particular looking to stall.

Kogir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laird. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Laird looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Laird doesn't manage to clinch there - Kogir circles away.

Laird tried to counter with a leg kick but Kogir avoided it.

Laird fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kogir sprawls well initially but Laird persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Laird is taking a breather. Kogir says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Laird tries to close the distance and clinch but Kogir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kogir connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Kogir lands a really nice looking cross but Laird seems unphased.

and Kogir counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Laird looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kogir is fending him off so far but Laird persists. Nope, Kogir circles away and we're back to standing.

Laird feints and as Kogir raises his hands in defense, Laird changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kogir is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Laird presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kogir is pressed up against the cage. Laird has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kogir down to the mat. Kogir avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Laird swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kogir counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kogir. Laird does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kogir chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Laird can pounce on him.
Laird tries to close the distance and clinch but Kogir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ganny Kogir seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Laird shoots in but Kogir avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Archie Laird seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kogir darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Kogir misses with a two punch combination.

Ganny Kogir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Archie Laird overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kogir wants to get back to his feet but Laird drags him back down.

Laird lands a nice forearm strike.
Laird in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Kogir is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Laird has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Kogir is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Laird has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Kogir takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Laird's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
