PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake McQuade (ranked 24714 p4p, 6789 weight class) and Alex Tucker (ranked 673 p4p, 627 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alex Tucker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake McQuade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Tucker!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tucker dives in for a single leg takedown but McQuade sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
McQuade fails with a takedown attempt.

McQuade darts in and clinches Tucker up against the cage.
Tucker misses with a short punch on the inside.
Tucker is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McQuade pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McQuade stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

McQuade pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McQuade wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
McQuade might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tucker trying to control the position from guard on top but McQuade is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McQuade wants to sweep but no luck.
McQuade wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

McQuade has his feet on Tucker's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

McQuade rushes Tucker and presses him up against the cage.

McQuade manages to pull guard.

McQuade looking for a guillotine here but Tucker defends easily.
McQuade is looking to stand up but Tucker isn't so interested in that idea.
McQuade on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McQuade tries to get out of the position.
Tucker tries to free his leg and advance position but McQuade is retaining full guard.
McQuade looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Tucker puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Tucker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McQuade wants to sweep but Tucker has passed to side control!
You can see the frustration on McQuade's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ground and pound from Tucker seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
McQuade has one of Tucker's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
McQuade wants to get back to his feet but Tucker drags him back down.
Tucker wants to lay and pray for a moment but McQuade keeps working.

McQuade is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McQuade keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tucker is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, McQuade manages to get to full guard.

Tucker throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McQuade darts in looking for a takedown but Tucker gets double underhooks and turns McQuade into the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tucker tries a head kick but it misses.
McQuade looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

McQuade has managed to clinch.
Tucker is looking to break free of the clinch but McQuade has double underhooks.
Tucker is working for takedown but McQuade is calmly controlling the position for now.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Tucker is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McQuade is defending well for now.

McQuade breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tucker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McQuade paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tucker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McQuade sprawls well. McQuade wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tucker gets slowly back to his feet.

McQuade seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Tucker throws a sloppy head kick and McQuade moves out of range easily.
McQuade fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Tucker checks it well.

McQuade is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tucker's half guard.

Tucker is looking to improve his position.

McQuade is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

McQuade thows a huge punch but Tucker dodges it nicely.

McQuade clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on McQuade - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Tucker is trying to force a seperation but McQuade has the dominant position.
Tucker tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
McQuade has Tucker pressed against the cage, preventing Tucker from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Tucker tries to break free but McQuade pushes him back against the cage.

McQuade jumps guard and drags Tucker to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Tucker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McQuade does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

McQuade pushes Tucker off looking to stand but Tucker dives back in and keeps control.
Tucker is keen to just control but McQuade is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tucker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
McQuade preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tucker tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McQuade manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McQuade slaps away a takedown attempt from Tucker, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jake McQuade is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McQuade stuffs the takedown attempt from Tucker. Tucker gets slowly back to his feet.

Tucker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tucker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tucker stuffs the takedown attempt from McQuade. McQuade gets slowly back to his feet.
Tucker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McQuade but McQuade pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tucker shoots in for a double leg but McQuade sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
McQuade is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tucker can do to turn this around?

McQuade pulls Tucker in to control the position.

McQuade working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tucker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tucker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

McQuade looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Jake McQuade showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McQuade has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
