PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Schwonckl Diesel (ranked 1914 p4p, 1991 weight class) and Benjamin Sisko (ranked 267 p4p, 280 weight class). Diesel comes to the cage accompanied by Outerspass - Laufhaus. Benjamin Sisko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Schwonckl Diesel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benjamin Sisko!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sisko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diesel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Diesel stuffs the takedown.
Sisko feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Diesels jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Diesel scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Sisko shoots in for a takedown but Diesel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Diesel swings for the body but Sisko moves out of range.
Sisko fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Diesel on the side of the head.
Diesel is looking to slow Sisko down with leg kicks.
Sisko throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diesel fires out a quick counter leg kick but Sisko just manages to avoid it.
Sisko misses with a straight left.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sisko. Diesel does a little dance to reset his feet.
Diesel ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Schwonckl Diesel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Sisko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sisko passes Diesel's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Diesel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sisko is working away from the top position though.
Sisko with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sisko passes to full mount!
Sisko prevents Diesel from getting the reversal.
Sisko landing strikes from the mount.
Diesel avoids a series of strikes thrown by Sisko.
Sisko looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Sisko looking to control but Diesel is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Sisko jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Diesel is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Diesel and Sisko has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sisko wants to control but Diesel is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diesel manages to get back to half guard.
Sisko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diesel keeps working.
Sisko thows a huge punch but Diesel dodges it nicely.
Diesel is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sisko scores with a couple of nice shots.
Diesel won't allow Sisko to pass to mount.
Diesel is trying to maintain the position but Sisko is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sisko is looking for a kimura but Diesel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sisko to get the leverage.
Sisko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diesel's head.
Diesel trying to control here.
Sisko is controlling the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sisko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Diesel defends it well.
Diesel is looking for a sweep. Sisko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sisko with a nice cross.
Diesel tries to clinch there but Sisko circles away.
Sisko tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Sisko throws a body punch but Diesel moves out of range.
Sisko on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Sisko clinches with his opponent.
Sisko misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Diesel working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Sisko lands a body punch.
Sisko cracks Diesel with a nice body shot.

Diesel breaks from the clinch.
Sisko takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Sisko tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Diesel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sisko.
Sisko takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Sisko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diesel.
Nice sprawl there from Diesel as Sisko shoots in.
Schwonckl Diesel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Sisko.

Diesel moves into range and clinches up with Sisko.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Benjamin Sisko dominated that round.
That's time! Diesel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sisko avoids the body shot from Diesel.
Diesel defending well as Sisko loads up on a big left hand.
Diesel throws a leg kick

and Sisko counters with a single leg into guard. Diesel didn't expect that.
Sisko looking to sit in guard and control but Diesel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Sisko working for a triangle but Diesel defends it easily.
Sisko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Diesel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sisko keeping moving, preventing Diesel from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sisko is adopting a defensive guard.

Diesel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sisko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diesel has managed to get both his arms back between Sisko's legs - danger averted.

Sisko controls Diesel momentarily but Diesel frees himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sisko looking for a triangle here. Diesel is fighting it but it looks tight! Sisko pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Diesel is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Benjamin Sisko!
