PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Felix Vick (ranked 3964 p4p, 2863 weight class) and Brad Beaver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vick has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beaver shoots in looking for a takedown. Vick tries to sprawl out of it but Beaver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vick manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Beaver looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
No luck for Beaver with that takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Beaver. No joy for Vick on that attempt.
Vick misses with a straight left.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vick doesn't manage to clinch there - Beaver circles away.

Vick darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Beaver is staying active underneath Vick, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Vick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Vick slips a nice elbow through Beaver's hands, connecting with Beaver's forehead.
Beaver is refusing to be controlled, as Vick sits in half guard.
Vick landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Beaver felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Vick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vick is trying to control the action in half guard but Beaver is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Vick seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Beaver does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Beaver is looking for a sweep. Vick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Vick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beaver keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vick fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beaver avoids it really well and circles away.

Vick closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vick lands in his opponent's guard.
Beaver is wriggling around but Vick manages to pass to half guard.

Vick is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Vick is keen to just control but Beaver is a slippery customer.

Vick uses his free foot to push down on Beaver's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Beaver.
Beaver wants to control but Vick is having none of it.

Vick lands a big shot there that rocks Beaver but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Vick with shots to the head and body - Beaver looks very uncomfortable down there.

Beaver is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Vick locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Beaver is forced to tap!
