Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gee Gutsu (ranked 1783 p4p, 2380 weight class) and Christian Gillet (ranked 263 p4p, 349 weight class). Gee Gutsu has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gee Gutsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Christian Gillet!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Gillet misses

and Gutsu counters with a single leg into guard. Gillet didn't expect that.

Gillet is trying to control the position but Gutsu postures up.
Gutsu passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Gutsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gutsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Gillet's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gutsu is staying tight to Gillet's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Gillet prevents Gutsu from improving position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gutsu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gillet, who protects the arm well.
Gutsu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gillet wants to control but Gutsu postures up.

Gutsu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gillet knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gutsu is trying to ground and pound but Gillet uses the momentary lack of control by Gutsu to regain half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Gutsu's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gillet is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Gutsu throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Gillet has his hands clasped together but Gutsu breaks the hold and Gillet is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gutsu!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gee Gutsu!
