These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Smith avoids the head kick by Black.
Black looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Black fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Black clinches.
Black breaks the clinch.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Black shows good takedown defense.
A low kick from Black is predictable there
and Smith counters with a stiff right hand.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Black.
Black wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Black is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Smith trying to control but Black postures up.
Smith is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Smith makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Black fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Black persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Smith tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Black manages to move to mount!

Black tries to control but Smith wriggling away.
Black has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Smith is forced to tap!
