And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Jay Simon!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Simon darts in and clinches Steel up against the ropes.
Simon is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Steel pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Steel is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Simon is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Steel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simon's guard.

Steel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Simon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Steel keeps working.

Simon wants to pass the guard but Steel is defending well.
Steel is refusing to be controlled, as Simon sits in half guard.
Steel won't allow Simon to pass to mount.
Steel trying to hold on to Simon's head to control him but Simon postures up.
Steel is doing well to control the position and prevent Simon from advancing to side control.
Simon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Simon wants to free his trapped foot but Steel is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Simon uses his free foot to push down on Steel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Steel.

Steel is not content to let Simon control the position.
Steel is trying to control Simon's posture but Simon avoids it.

Steel seems a little lost for a moment, as Simon dominates the positioning.
