Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rafael Da Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gus Tarbols!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tarbols.
Tarbols slips under a jab from Da Silva.
Da Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Tarbols, looking for a takedown. Da Silva pushes Tarbols against the cage but Tarbols circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Da Silva rushes Tarbols and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Da Silva darts in looking for a takedown but Tarbols gets double underhooks and turns Da Silva into the cage.

Tarbols is struggling to control the position.

Da Silva manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Tarbols is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Da Silva wants to get back to his feet but Tarbols is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Tarbols has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Tarbols postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Da Silva is not content to let Tarbols control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tarbols tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tarbols has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tarbols remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Tarbols looks for a takedown but Da Silva sprawls well.

Tarbols gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Tarbols gets control of Da Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tarbols will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Da Silva is fighting to break Tarbols's control of his arms but Tarbols is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Gus Tarbols comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tarbols has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
