Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mister Poodle (ranked 5755 p4p, 5281 weight class) and Doc Veto Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doc Veto Jr will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mister Poodle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Doc Veto Jr!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poodle lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Veto Jr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Poodle's waist but Poodle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Veto Jr off to one side.
Poodle takes a swing at Veto Jr's ribcage but misses.
Veto Jr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Poodle moves out of range of the body kick from Veto Jr.

Mister Poodle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doc Veto Jr.

Poodle shoots in and bounces Veto Jr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Veto Jr shoots in looking for a takedown but Poodle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Veto Jr's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Poodle fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Veto Jr to the ground. Poodle is now in Veto Jr's guard.
Veto Jr is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Poodle dives into side control.

Poodle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Poodle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Veto Jr to the mat! Veto Jr manages to get full guard.

Poodle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Veto Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poodle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Poodle fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Veto Jr sprawls well initially but Poodle persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Poodle counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Veto Jr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Poodle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Poodle closes the distance and clinches.
Poodle's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Veto Jr wants a takedown but no success here.
Poodle is trying to pull guard but Veto Jr has him pressed against the cage.

Poodle drives through with a takedown into Veto Jr's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Poodle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Poodle postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Poodle is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Veto Jr is working an open guard so Poodle takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Poodle has Veto Jr pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Poodle pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Veto Jr tumbling to the mat - Poodle dives into Veto Jr's guard.

Well Poodle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
