With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eugene Whibley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whibley scoring well with a low kick there.
Whibley takes a swing at Soto's ribcage but misses.
Whibley lands a leg kick that knocks Soto off balance momentarily.

Soto seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Soto tries to close the distance and clinch but Whibley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Soto looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Soto throws a right hand that Whibley ducks under and follows up with a left that Whibley also avoids with ease.
Soto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Whibley swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Soto chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Whibley can pounce on him.
Whibley circles away from the clinch attempt
and Whibley counters with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Whibley counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Soto tries to close the distance and clinch but Whibley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Soto chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Whibley can pounce on him.
Soto throws a jab when Whibley was well out of range.
Whibley lands with a kick to the ribs.
Whibley throws a quick inside leg kick.
Whibley dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Soto takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Soto is breathing heavily.
Whibley checks a leg kick nicely.
Eugene Whibley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whibley connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Whibley turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Whibley lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Nice straight punches there by Whibley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Whibley.
Whibley scores with the left hand. Soto knows he should have avoided that one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Whibley clinches.
Whibley drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Soto gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Whibley lands with a right to the head.

Whibley lands a hook to the side of the head.
Whibley lands a hook that snaps the head of Soto backwards.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Whibley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Whibley digs a right hand underneath Soto's ribcage. Soto let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Whibley lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Soto or not.

Whibley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Whibley scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Whibley bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Soto gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Whibley advances to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Whibley looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Whibley is looking for a kimura here.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Whibley throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Whibley keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Whibley throwing shots but Soto is blocking nicely.
Whibley moves into full mount! Soto won't be happy about that!

Whibley looking for a guillotine from mount but Soto is having none of it.
Whibley fails to take his opponent's back.

Whibley quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Whibley but it's paid off an Soto is forced to tap! Nice work by Whibley.

A relieved looking Eugene Whibley thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
