PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Smyth (ranked 2829 p4p, 3378 weight class) and Black Lives Jackson (ranked 384 p4p, 458 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, William Smyth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Black Lives Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smyth misses with a series of wild punches.
Jackson goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Smyth shoots in and gets a takedown into Jackson's guard.

Jackson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smyth is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smyth trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Black Lives Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

William Smyth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

William Smyth has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Black Lives Jackson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Let's hope that Jackson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Jackson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smyth keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Smyth moves out of range easily.
Jackson lands with a slapping head kick.
Jackson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jackson lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Jackson avoids the elbow strike from Smyth, against the cage.
Smyth misses with a punch on the inside.

Black Lives Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
