PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raate Road (ranked 85 p4p, 778 weight class) and Ryan Gordon (ranked 12 p4p, 130 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Road might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to For Heavy Metal we will die!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gordon darts in looking for a takedown but Road gets double underhooks and turns Gordon into the cage.
Road tests Gordon's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A nice inside leg kick there by Road. That's going to slow Gordon down.

Gordon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gordon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Road keeps working.
Road is looking to regain half guard here but Gordon keeps moving and retains side control.
Gordon advances to full mount.
Road's coaches at Heavy Metal have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Gordon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Road is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Road sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Road has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Gordon. Oh but Road has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Gordon goes limp - he's gone! Road jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Raate Road decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
