PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drokov Slayveski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smokey Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Slightly Stoopid - Above The Clouds. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Drokov Slayveski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Smokey Joe!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slayveski shoots for a double leg takedown but Joe sprawls well. He's pushed Slayveski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Slayveski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Joe's guard now.

Joe had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Slayveski is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Joe Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Slayveski's back instead.
Slayveski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joe on the ground.
Joe keeps control of the position as Slayveski tries to break free.
Slayveski tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Joe has hold of Slayveski's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Slayveski manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Joe prevents Slayveski from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe cracks Slayveski with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Joe has control of Slayveski's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Slayveski regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Slayveski is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Slayveski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Slayveski tries to get out of the position.

Joe is going olschool here, as he tries to force Slayveski to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Slayveski shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slayveski wants to hold on but Joe pushes him away.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Slayveski cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Slayveski looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Joe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Slayveski looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Joe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Slayveski is looking to take a break and control but Joe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are battling for position here. Joe manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Joe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slayveski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Slayveski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Joe is proving hard to escape from.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Joe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Joe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Drokov Slayveski showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Joe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
