Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mika Heining!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rik Spahn!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spahn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Heining clinches with his opponent.
Spahn is working for takedown but Heining is calmly controlling the position for now.
Spahn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Heining walks away with a smile on his face. Spahn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Heining throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spahn's waist but Spahn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Heining off to one side.
Spahn stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mika Heining. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heining shoots in looking for a takedown. Spahn tries to sprawl out of it but Heining keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spahn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Heining darts in looking for a takedown but Spahn gets double underhooks and turns Heining into the cage.
Spahn can't get the takedown.
Heining definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Heining breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Spahn counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Spahn.
Heining wants to stand up but Spahn is controlling him.
Spahn cracks Heining with a solid left hand.
Heining is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Spahn with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Spahn lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Spahn landing some decent shots from guard.
Heining looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spahn is one step ahead there.
Heining is breathing heavily.
Spahn postures up and lands a big shot to Heining's brow.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Heining has momentary wrist control but Spahn slips an elbow through the middle.

Heining is looking to stand up but Spahn isn't so interested in that idea.

Heining is controlling Spahn's posture.

Heining tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Spahn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Spahn lands a couple of digs.

Heining is rocked!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Spahn trying to control but Heining is working from the bottom.
Spahn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Oh Heining is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Spahn wants to control from the top but Heining keeps moving.
Heining seems to have got his legs back now.
Spahn cracks Heining with a solid left hand.
Heining controls Spahn momentarily but Spahn frees himself.
Spahn connects with a couple of short punches.
Spahn postures up and lands a big shot to Heining's brow.
Spahn stops Heining from standing up.
Spahn landing some decent shots from guard.

Spahn distracts Heining with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Spahn lands a couple of elbows.
Spahn postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Heining covers up, he's hurt! Spahn keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Spahn and the ref steps in to end the fight! Spahn can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rik Spahn!
