PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gosuke Del Valle (ranked 592 p4p, 1143 weight class) and Koa Nightmarcher (ranked 78 p4p, 150 weight class). Koa Nightmarcher told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Del Valle manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nightmarcher on his heels. He'll look to pass Nightmarcher's guard now, I'm sure.
Del Valle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nightmarcher swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nightmarcher seems keen to control Del Valle 's posture.
Del Valle definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Nightmarcher had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Del Valle defends it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Del Valle slips nicely into half guard.

Del Valle uses his free foot to push down on Nightmarcher's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nightmarcher.
Del Valle moves to back control.
Del Valle gets his hands free as Nightmarcher looks to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Del Valle is persistently looking for the submission but Nightmarcher is defending it well.

Del Valle is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Nightmarcher looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Del Valle has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Nightmarcher! Can he survive? No! He's out! Del Valle gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
