PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fox Marsh (ranked 5468 p4p, 24898 weight class) and Muhammad Arslan (ranked 629 p4p, 746 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fox Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Muhammad Arslan!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A combination from Marsh does no damage.
Fox Marsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Arslan moves in looking to clinch but Marsh pushes him off.
We've been told by Marsh's head coaches at Cozad MMA Sydney that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Arslan shoots for a double leg takedown but Marsh sprawls well. He's pushed Arslan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Marsh throws a right and a left that both miss.

Marsh looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Marsh has had enough of the clinch but Arslan keeps him there for the moment.

Arslan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marsh doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Arslan.

Arslan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Marsh looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Marsh trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Marsh takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Arslan decides to stand back up. Arslan steps back and let's Marsh get back to his feet.

Marsh wants to get up but he can't break Arslan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Arslan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marsh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marsh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Arslan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marsh defends well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Marsh wants to stand but Arslan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Arslan has his hands on Marsh's head, controlling the position.

Arslan dives in and grabs Marsh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marsh pushes down on Arslan's head and hops out.

Marsh throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Arslan.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marsh shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Arslan eats them both and turns towards Marsh to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Marsh has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Marsh is pressed up against the cage. Arslan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marsh down to the mat. Marsh avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Arslan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Marsh did well to prevent Arslan getting side control.

Arslan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marsh keeps working.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Arslan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Marsh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

I would just about give that final round to Muhammad Arslan.
I think Arslan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
