Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Katashi Sakaguchi (ranked 6531 p4p, 4512 weight class) and Ryan Hanley (ranked 702 p4p, 582 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Katashi Sakaguchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Hanley!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hanley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sakaguchi's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sakaguchi is on top in guard.

Sakaguchi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hanley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sakaguchi is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hanley working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Sakaguchi has passed into half guard!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hanley desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Hanley tries to roll over but Sakaguchi keeps him under control.
Hanley controlling the position for now.
Sakaguchi prevents Hanley from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hanley is positioning himself well to prevent Sakaguchi advancing to mount.
Hanley regains full guard. Nicely done.
Sakaguchi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Sakaguchi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hanley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sakaguchi has managed to get both his arms back between Hanley's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sakaguchi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hanley works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sakaguchi trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sakaguchi won't allow Hanley to sweep him here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sakaguchi is fighting to break Hanley's control of his arms but Hanley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Sakaguchi fails with the takedown.
Sakaguchi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hanley is fending him off so far but Sakaguchi persists. Nope, Hanley circles away and we're back to standing.
Sakaguchi shoots in looking for a takedown but Hanley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sakaguchi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Katashi Sakaguchi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hanley fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've been told by Sakaguchi's head coaches at The Lions Den that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Sakaguchi fails to land the takedown.
Sakaguchi scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Hanley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hanley works to advance to full mount. Sakaguchi defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hanley prevents Sakaguchi from getting the reversal.

Hanley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sakaguchi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hanley looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hanley avoids the attempt from Sakaguchi to control.
Hanley trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sakaguchi keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hanley controlling his opponent.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Hanley dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sakaguchi is looking to take this one to the mat.

Hanley gets control of Sakaguchi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hanley will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sakaguchi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hanley is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Sakaguchi rolls with it to try and escape but Hanley cranks on the arm and Sakaguchi is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ryan Hanley!
An out of breath Ryan Hanley thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
