PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Rection (ranked 3925 p4p, 3958 weight class) and Talc Chirp Sin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Talc Chirp Sin will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hugh Rection!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Talc Chirp Sin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chirp Sin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rection tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Chirp Sin is in Rection's guard.
Chirp Sin wants to get up but he can't break Rection's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rection working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chirp Sin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chirp Sin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rection is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chirp Sin defends well.

Rection is looking for a triangle here but Chirp Sin uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Rection could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rection definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Rection really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Chirp Sin wants to stand but Rection has his arm trapped.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Rection shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chirp Sin is trying to defend but Rection finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Rection looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rection is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chirp Sin is just riding it out for now. Rection eventually gives up the hold.

Rection is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Chirp Sin tries to roll over but Rection keeps him under control.

A close round but Talc Chirp Sin will probably get the nod.

Hugh Rection has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Talc Chirp Sin.

Rection tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Chirp Sin is able to avoid easily.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Chirp Sin checks a leg kick.

Chirp Sin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Rection might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hugh Rection overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chirp Sin trying to keep a closed guard but Rection is proving a slippery customer.
Rection missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rection wants to control from the top but Chirp Sin keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rection drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chirp Sin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rection has Chirp Sin in his guard.


Rection has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Chirp Sin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rection.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rection tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rection wants to control but Chirp Sin postures up.
Rection is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Chirp Sin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
