Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Craig (ranked 4771 p4p, 4770 weight class) and Scott Gill (ranked 579 p4p, 581 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Gill!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Craig takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Craig rushes Gill and presses him up against the cage.
Gill tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Craig avoids it.
Craig tries to land knees in the clinch but Gill avoids the damage to the body.
Gill wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gill tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Craig smiles and moves away.

Craig is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gill to keep the fight standing.
Craig manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Gill is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gill dives in and grabs Craig's left leg, looking for a takedown. Craig pushes down on Gill's head and hops out.

Craig creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gill's defenses.

It looks like Scott Gill has been cut.

and Craig counters with a big head kick but Gill shrugs it off.

Craig moves into the clinch.
Gill is still on wobbly legs! Can Craig finish him?
Gill drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Craig gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Gill seems to have recovered his senses.
Gill wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Craig has him pressed against the cage.
Gill wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gill is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Craig to keep the fight standing.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gill closes the distance and clinches up with Craig, looking for a takedown. Gill pushes Craig against the cage but Craig circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Craig, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
