The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cohen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Russel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

It looks like Aleks Cohen has been cut.

Despite being in the dominant position, Bertrand Russel just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Russel is looking to score with low kicks.
Aleks Cohen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Russel motions for Cohen to come forward. Russel throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Cohen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cohen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cohen is looking for a kimura but Russel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cohen to get the leverage.

Russel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cohen is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Russel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cohen!
Cohen is looking to improve his position but Russel isn't that keen on the idea.
