Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Askren (ranked 4336 p4p, 3265 weight class) and Kili Disson (ranked 379 p4p, 310 weight class). Kili Disson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jake Askren's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kili Disson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren cracks Disson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Disson looking to score a takedown here. Askren is defending well but Disson drives through and ends up in Askren's guard.
Disson preventing the sweep.
Disson trying to control the position from guard on top but Askren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Askren is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Askren will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Disson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Disson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Askren to the ground. Disson is now in Askren's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Disson has Askren pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Disson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Askren tumbling to the mat - Disson dives into Askren's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Askren is trying to keep Disson in close.
Askren manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Disson manages to get himself to full guard.

Kili Disson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Askren scores with a crisp jab that stopped Disson in his tracks.
Askren takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Askren bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Disson's guard.

Askren is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Askren shoots in but Disson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Disson dives in for a single leg takedown but Askren sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Askren lands with a short shot to the head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Disson pulls guard successfully.
Askren seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Askren with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Disson has momentary wrist control but Askren slips an elbow through the middle.
Askren postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Askren trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Askren connects with a couple of short punches.
Askren cracks Disson with a solid left hand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Askren dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Disson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Askren defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Disson.

Askren attempts a counter takedown but Disson avoids it well and moves away.

Askren seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Disson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Askren with a jab.
Disson closes the distance and clinches up with Askren, looking for a takedown. Disson pushes Askren against the cage but Askren circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Disson shoots for a takedown but Askren saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Askren is looking to counter the offense by Disson and move into the clinch.

Disson gets caught flat footed, as Askren shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Askren scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Askren working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Disson has his foot on Askren's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Askren works his way back into a safe position though.
Askren postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Askren stands and throws Disson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Askren trying to control the action but Disson is working from the bottom.

Askren creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Askren tries to score with some ground and pound. Disson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Disson is not content to let Askren control the position.

Askren tries to move to mount but Disson blocks the move with his legs.
Disson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Disson wants to control but Askren postures up.
Askren misses with the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Askren throws a strike aimed at the side of Disson's head but Disson avoids it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Askren showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Askren has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
