PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derk Voorheis (ranked 2624 p4p, 2614 weight class) and Madness Fighter (ranked 356 p4p, 353 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Derk Voorheis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Madness Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Voorheis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fighter was covering up waiting for the punch and Voorheis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Voorheis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fighter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Voorheis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fighter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Voorheis shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Fighter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Voorheis.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Fighter! But no joy.
Fighter wants to clinch up but Voorheis keeps it at a distance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Voorheis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fighter is just riding it out for now. Voorheis eventually gives up the hold.
