Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 4718 p4p, 5049 weight class) and Kiko Sousa (ranked 534 p4p, 562 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Doe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sousa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Doe defends well and Sousa ends up having to push Doe into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Doe is trying to pull guard but Sousa has him pressed against the cage.

Doe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Doe scores with the left hand. Sousa knows he should have avoided that one.

Doe fails in his attempt to clinch.

Doe wants to sweep here but Sousa controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sousa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Doe dives on top into guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Doe passes Sousa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Doe decides to stand and escape the position.

Doe gets a clinch.
Sousa is working for takedown but Doe is calmly controlling the position for now.
Sousa fails to pull the fight into his guard.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kiko Sousa.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sousa is trying to pull guard but Doe has him pressed against the cage.

Doe jumps guard and drags Sousa to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Doe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sousa's guard.

Doe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sousa sprawls well. Sousa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Doe gets slowly back to his feet.
Sousa shoots in for a double leg but Doe sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Doe has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Sousa has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Sousa is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Doe is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Sousa has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Doe has the hooks in. Sousa is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
