And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ward is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ward wants to clinch.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ward is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Ward circles away and we're back to standing.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ward tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
Ward tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Smith is trying to drag Ward to the mat but Ward just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spike Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ward throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Smiths head.
Ward is leaning against Smith and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Ward lands an uppercut.

Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ward has him pressed against the cage.

Ward gets through Smith's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Smith is rocked!
Ward lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A right hook to the body lands for Ward.
Smith is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith tumbles to the floor! Ward threw a big shot that dropped him and now Ward is on top looking to finish! Smith has guard but can he survive?!

Ward decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but Ward has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ward lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Ward creates a bit of distance and unloads a huge uppercut that knocks Smith out cold! The ref dives in to break up the two fighters!
