The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ax is defended easily by Suckerpunch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Suckerpunch.
Ax closes this distance looking for a takedown but Suckerpunch circles away.
Suckerpunch swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Ax shoots in but no luck this time.
Ricki Suckerpunch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demolition Ax.
Suckerpunch has managed to clinch.
Suckerpunch lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
It looks like Demolition Ax has been cut.
Ax tries to pull guard but Suckerpunch holds him up against the cage and eventually Ax drops back down to his feet.
Ax jumps guard but Suckerpunch stands there with Ax around his waist. Ax gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suckerpunch lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ax backwards.
Ax tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Suckerpunch throws a head punch that misses.
Suckerpunch with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Suckerpunch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Suckerpunch fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ax, pushing him back against the cage.
Suckerpunch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Suckerpunch fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ax scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ax throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We've been hearing good reports from Suckerpunch's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

My spies in The Power Plant inform me that Ax has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ax connects with a nice short shot to Suckerpunch's temple.

Ax is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Suckerpunch defends it well.
