Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frankie DeLuna!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macdonald showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from DeLuna.
DeLuna jabs Macdonald to the body, keeping him at a distance.
DeLuna throws a combination. Macdonald tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Macdonald fails with a takedown attempt.
DeLuna goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A left lands for DeLuna.

Macdonald is rocked!
No luck with that takedown attempt from DeLuna.
Macdonald wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Macdonald is defended easily by DeLuna.
Macdonald fails in his attempt to clinch.
DeLuna is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

DeLuna wants to break free but Macdonald has control.

DeLuna drops down looking for an ankle pick but Macdonald pulls his leg out and moves away.
Macdonald avoids a kick to the body.
Macdonald takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

DeLuna lands with a right hand.
DeLuna throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Frankie DeLuna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A left and a right from DeLuna both land. Nice combination.
Macdonald takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Oh Macdonald is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Macdonald shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts DeLuna as he jumps to the side.

Macdonald seems to have got his legs back now.
DeLuna moves into range and connects with a jab.
DeLuna misses with a takedown attempt - Macdonald sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

DeLuna rushes Macdonald and presses him up against the cage.

DeLuna breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
DeLuna cracks Macdonald with an open hand slap.
DeLuna goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Macdonald tries to close the distance and clinch but DeLuna swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
DeLuna shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Macdonald seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Macdonald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
DeLuna lands a nice looking body shot.

DeLuna tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Macdonald was well out of range. Poor timing from DeLuna.
Macdonald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
DeLuna shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Macdonald but Macdonald pushes him off and we're back to square one.
DeLuna defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Macdonald.
DeLuna shoots in but no luck this time.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

DeLuna is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Macdonald pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Frankie DeLuna dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

DeLuna uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Macdonald has time to react.
Macdonald on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Macdonald misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Macdonald shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. DeLuna defends it nicely.

Macdonald lands a head kick. DeLuna smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
DeLuna misses with a wild combination.
DeLuna has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

DeLuna has managed to clinch.

Macdonald manages to pull guard.

DeLuna stands and steps away. Macdonald gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

DeLuna tries to land a front kick but Macdonald steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
DeLuna has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

DeLuna gets in close and tags Macdonald with a short punch that almost sends Macdonald to the mat! Oh Macdonald is in big trouble! He turns his back on DeLuna, trying to create some distance but DeLuna rushes him, striking wildly and Macdonald goes down! The referee tackles DeLuna into the cage to end the fight! DeLuna is one violent man!
