Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jaxton Kidd (ranked 2745 p4p, 2725 weight class) and Gervasio Gervasio (ranked 369 p4p, 364 weight class). Kidd comes to the cage accompanied by The Greatest. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gervasio tries for a takedown but Kidd circles away easily
and Kidd connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gervasio takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Gervasio uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kidd.
Kidd misses with a wild combination.
Kidd has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Tin Can Athletics in the buildup to the fight.
Jaxton Kidd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kidd shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kidd tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gervasio knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kidd is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kidd wants to stand but Gervasio is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gervasio is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kidd asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kidd had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gervasio defends it easily.

Kidd escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gervasio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
