PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Span (ranked 4994 p4p, 3453 weight class) and Obebobwe Osas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kurt Span!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Obebobwe Osas!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Osas gets a clinch.
Span looking to slow down the pace here.
Span tries for a takedown. No joy.
Osas will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Span up against the cage.
Span is trying to drag Osas to the mat but Osas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Span tries to pull guard but Osas won't allow it.

Osas has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Span after a bit of a struggle.

Osas blocks a body shot from Span.
Span drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Osas gets the underhooks and prevents it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Osas creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Osas wants a takedown.
Span tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Osas just stands there and leans against the cage.
Span tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Osas smiles and moves away.
Span takes one on the button.

Osas clinches up against the cage.
Osas stalls.
Span has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Osas avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Span ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Span no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Span wants to improve his position but instead Osas has moved into half guard.
Still in half guard, Osas seems content to control.

Osas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Span to stand up.

Osas pushes Span up against the cage in a clinch.

Span is trying to maintain a safe position but Osas gets an underhook and turns Span into the cage.
Span wants to break the clinch but can't.
Span is looking to control Osas's arms but Osas gets an underhook and turns him. Now Span has his back to the cage.
Span tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Span can't find room to land a body shot as Osas controls the action.
Span throws an elbow but it misses.
Osas displaying some good clinch control by pressing Span up against the cage.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Span tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Osas paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Obebobwe Osas seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Obebobwe Osas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Span moves forwards but Osas connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Osas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Span circles away quickly and effectively.

Span looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Osas is fending him off so far but Span persists. Nope, Osas circles away and we're back to standing.

Osas rushes Span and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Span has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Osas is working away from the top position though.
Osas is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Osas works his foot free and advances to mount.
Span throwing hammer fists to the chest of Osas. What's that going to do exactly?

Osas stands up from mount. Strange move.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Osas lands a big uppercut and Span crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Span looks OK. Osas waves Span back to his feet!

Span is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Osas lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Obebobwe Osas!
