Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Cruz (ranked 6129 p4p, 5015 weight class) and Archie Laird (ranked 627 p4p, 563 weight class). The key to victory for Bobby Cruz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Laird closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cruz quickly recovers to half guard.

Cruz kicks off Laird and gets to his feet.

Cruz thuds a left hand into Laird's body.
Cruz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Laird tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cruz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Cruz pushes Laird off looking to stand but Laird dives back in and keeps control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cruz wants to improve his position but Laird is controlling well.
Laird passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cruz!
Laird is landing with some decent strikes but Cruz is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Archie Laird has got the better of the ground game so far.
BOOM! Laird connects with a massive shot to the dome!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Laird postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Cruz in real trouble here! The ref calls for Cruz to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

During a confident post fight interview, Archie Laird thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Bobby Cruz was interviewed post fight and said 'Shame on me losing in my own home'.
