Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Larry Shark (ranked 4882 p4p, 4889 weight class) and Alexander Sovotnikov (ranked 575 p4p, 576 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexander Sovotnikov!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sovotnikov ducks under a wild hook from Shark.
Shark is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sovotnikov.
Shark throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sovotnikov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shark sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shark seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Shark ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Sovotnikov throws a series of punches but Shark avoids them all with ease.
Sovotnikov missing with a left hand there. Shark was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sovotnikov jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Shark thows a left - swing and a miss!
Sovotnikov shapes to counter with a head kick.
Sloppy strikes from Sovotnikov. Those never looked like landing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sovotnikov throws a hook to the side of Shark's head but Shark sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Shark cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sovotnikov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Shark feinted with a counter takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Alexander Sovotnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sovotnikov throws a leg kick
and Shark decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sovotnikov's guard.
Sovotnikov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shark. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shark seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Shark thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shark trying to control the action but Sovotnikov is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shark is taking a breather. Sovotnikov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Sovotnikov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Shark throwing shots but Sovotnikov is blocking nicely.
Shark has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shark is trying to work for a kimura but Sovotnikov is defending well.
Shark works his way into full mount!
Shark unloads with some shots from mount but Sovotnikov bucks and avoids them well.
Shark wants to control the pace but Sovotnikov is squirming around nicely.

Sovotnikov is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Shark looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Sovotnikov wants to control but Shark is having none of it.
Shark working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Sovotnikov is in all sorts of trouble here.
Shark with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sovotnikov has left one of his arms exposed and Shark doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Sovotnikov screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
