Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Draughn Diego (ranked 2255 p4p, 3438 weight class) and Madik MBaku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Draughn Diego has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Draughn Diego!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Madik MBaku!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diego throws a head kick that misses.

and MBaku counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
MBaku looking to pass the guard.
Diego controlling the position.
Diego knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MBaku on the ground.
MBaku seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
MBaku wants to control from the top but Diego keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diego wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
MBaku forces his way into half guard.

MBaku is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Diego is just riding it out for now. MBaku eventually gives up the hold.

MBaku is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Diego defends it well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
MBaku looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Diego tries to get to full guard but MBaku has control of the leg.
Diego on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diego tries to get out of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

MBaku looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Diego wants to improve his position but MBaku is controlling well.

Diego preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

MBaku is looking for a kimura but Diego is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for MBaku to get the leverage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

MBaku is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

MBaku is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

MBaku wants to pass to mount but Diego is defending the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Madik MBaku dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Diego closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
MBaku's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Diego tries a body shot but MBaku blocks it.
A nice left hand lands by Diego.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Diego creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Diego lands a hook that snaps the head of MBaku backwards.
MBaku is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Diego is defending well.
Diego scores with a shoulder strike.

MBaku is rocked!
MBaku is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Diego to keep the fight standing.
MBaku is trying to pull guard but Diego has him pressed against the cage.
Draughn Diego has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Madik MBaku.
Diego lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of MBaku backwards.
MBaku is still on wobbly legs! Can Diego finish him?
Diego pushes MBaku against the cage. Diego is working some dirty boxing. Diego pushes off with a quick right hook! MBaku goes down! MBaku tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Diego moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Draughn Diego!
During a confident post fight interview, Draughn Diego thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
