PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy has chosen DJ Tiesto - Power Mix as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Hardy!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young keeps the fight on the outside.
Jason Hardy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hardy tries to clinch but Young moves out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Young misses with a wild combination.
Hardy throws a leg kick which misses Young's front leg but catches the back leg as Young tries to avoid it.
Hardy tries to clinch up.

Young has closed the distance and engaged Hardy in a clinch.

Young turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Young manages to end up in side control.
Hardy being controlled for a moment.
Young trying to control the action but Hardy is working from the bottom.
Young controlling the position.
Young works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Young tries to move to mount but Hardy blocks the move with his legs.
Hardy on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hardy is looking for a sweep.
Young works to advance to full mount. Hardy defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Young really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Young working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Hardy tries to lock up and control but Young gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hardy is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hardy looks gassed!
Young controlling from the full mount.
Young will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Young trying to control but Hardy is having none of it.
Hardy is controlling an arm, preventing Young from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Hardy is looking to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Young looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Young lands a heavy elbow.
Hardy wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Young punishing his opponent with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Young tries to control but Hardy wriggling away.
Hardy can't escape the position.
Young with the ground and pound from mount.

Young looking to isolate an arm here. Hardy doesn't see it coming and as Young extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Young!
