PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between An Underdahg (ranked 2930 p4p, 3702 weight class) and William Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 451 weight class). Roberts has chosen Phenomenal as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that An Underdahg has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily An Underdahg seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roberts instigates a clinch.
Roberts gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like An Underdahg has been cut.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Roberts has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Underdahg is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Roberts pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Roberts breaks the clinch.
Roberts throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Underdahg takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Roberts lands with a good body shot.
Roberts fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Underdahg.
Roberts feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Underdahgs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Underdahg is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Underdahg takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

An Underdahg's cut is getting worse.

Roberts moves into the clinch.
Roberts lands a nice uppercut.
Roberts lands with a light punch inside.

Roberts pulls Underdahg into guard.
Roberts has control of Underdahg's left arm, preventing Underdahg from doing any damage.
Underdahg is looking to work some ground and pound but Roberts has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Underdahg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Roberts works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Underdahg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Roberts is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Underdahg postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Roberts is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Underdahg, into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Underdahg is breathing heavily.

Underdahg looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Roberts is defending well. Underdahg quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Roberts has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Underdahg celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

William Roberts was interviewed post fight and said 'I was obviously not fully prepared, I will not make the same mistake, bring on a rematch if you are worth it.'.
