PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Crazy Horse (ranked 1267 p4p, 1250 weight class) and William Spud (ranked 167 p4p, 165 weight class). Spud has chosen Havana as his entrance music. William Spud acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Crazy Horse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Spud!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horse ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Horse avoids the body shot from Spud.
Horse misses with a looping left.
Horse misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Spud.
Horse wants to clinch up but Spud keeps it at a distance.
A little jabbing left from Spud on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Horse keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Spud.
Spud misses with a wild body shot.
Horse is looking to counter punch.
Spud throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Spud throws an off balance right hand
and Horse counters with a stiff right hand.
Spud ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Horse moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horse displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Spud throws out the jab.
Horse throwing a counter right hand but Spud manages to avoid it.
Spud throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A slow jab from Spud misses its intended target.
Horse half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Spud takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Spud's jab looks to have found its range, popping Horse under the eye.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spud jabs at Horse's body.
Spud throws a low kick but it's checked well by Horse.
Spud scores with a jab. Horse acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Spud throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Horse counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Horse seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Horse's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Spud keeping full guard, as Horse tries to pass.
Horse passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Horse wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spud keeps working.
Spud is looking to escape.
Horse working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Spud's thigh. Spud counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Horse advances position into side control!
Spud told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Spud pushes Horse away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Horse gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Horse slows the pace down.
Horse seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Spud for as long as he can get away with.
Horse wants to control but Spud is keeping him busy.
Horse happy to just control the position for now.
Horse advances to mount.
Horse moves to back control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Horse is working for a rear naked choke. Spud is not defending it well and Horse has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Spud refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Spud's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Crazy Horse!
