Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonas Carvalho (ranked 4212 p4p, 2504 weight class) and Islandiano Islandish (ranked 0 p4p, 267 weight class). Jonas Carvalho has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonas Carvalho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Islandiano Islandish!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Islandish uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carvalho.
Islandish appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Islandish has Carvalho up against the cage in a clinch.
Islandish tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Islandish can't get the takedown.
Carvalho working hard to break the clinch.
Islandish lands a right hand that snaps the head of Carvalho backwards.
Carvalho wants to get back to striking at distance but Islandish won't allow it.
Carvalho tries to break free but Islandish pushes him back against the cage.
Carvalho prevents a body shot from Islandish.
Carvalho wants to break the clinch but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Islandish jumps into guard, dragging Carvalho to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Islandish is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Carvalho sees it coming and defends easily.

Carvalho pushes Islandish off looking to stand but Islandish dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Islandish uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carvalho.
Carvalho takes a swing at Islandish's ribcage but misses.
Carvalho lands with an uppercut that bounces Islandish off the cage and back into range.

Islandish tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carvalho defends well and Islandish ends up having to push Carvalho into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Carvalho throws a body shot but no joy.

Carvalho lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Carvalho tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Islandish was well out of range. Poor timing from Carvalho.

Carvalho is pressed up against the cage. Islandish has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carvalho down to the mat. Carvalho avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Islandish shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Islandish was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Carvalho definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Carvalho takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Islandish cracks Carvalho with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Islandish sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Carvalho is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Carvalho parries the strikes from Islandish easily there. Islandish is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carvalho to escape.

Islandish is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carvalho knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Carvalho wants to get back to his feet.

Islandish throws a strike aimed at the side of Carvalho's head but Carvalho avoids it well.

Islandish thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
