This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 27 wins and 8 losses; Ibbe Ribbler! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Pavel Savkov!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Ribbler shoots in for a takedown but Savkov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Savkov tries to counter by closing the distance.
Ribbler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Savkov's waist but Savkov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ribbler off to one side.
Savkov tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Ribbler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Savkov is fending him off so far but Ribbler persists. Nope, Savkov circles away and we're back to standing.

Savkov's coach down at Rivers Edge Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Savkov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

We've been hearing good reports from Ribbler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
